iCloud - not apparent if it's working

I open the app on my iPad and get to the screen with my save game.

I wait a bit, then open it on my iTouch... no save game.

What am I doing wrong? Is there any way to check if it's actually uploaded to iCloud? And then is there anyway to view the upload or download progress?
